The Trip to Bountiful depicts an elderly woman, Carrie Satts, who has to live with a daughter-in-law who hates her and a son who does not dare take her side. While residing with this unhappy family in a Houston apartment, Watts dreams of returning to the tiny town of Bountiful, Texas where she was raised.
