Specimen unfolds aboard the Nomad, a failing corporate research vessel drifting near Earth after a disastrous mission. The remaining crew—overworked, underqualified, and emotionally threadbare—have lost every valuable specimen they were contracted to deliver. When a mysterious pod docks without warning, the crew discovers what they believe to be a miraculous last-minute salvation: a living Andro-Primatus, a rare and immensely valuable being that could secure their careers and erase their failures.
