Terem, a new dance work by choreographer Samuel Humphreys, lays out a pattern of enigmatically entwined relationships between three female figures, exploring the experience and costs of adapting to life within spaces of enclosure. Rooted in the classical modern dance vocabulary of Anna Sokolow and Isadora Duncan, Terem is an intricately layered exploration of self and other; memory and narrative; and the liberatory potential of pattern and movement.
