This is a perfect “cozy Christmas” movie, the kind you watch and then wonder why it isn’t better known. Barbara Stanwyck can break your heart and make you laugh in the same scene, Fred MacMurray is wonderfully grounded, and Beulah Bondi gives it that home-and-hearth feeling you want this time of year.
