Los Angeles-born artist Reggie Burrows Hodges created a new series of paintings inspired by the art of father-and-daughter painters Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi in the Getty’s collection. Building on the formal and thematic aspects of the 17th-century Italian works while incorporating his own artistic vision, Hodges explores and highlights the underlying components of violence, drama, and theatricality embedded in their biblical and mythological narratives.
