BASIC, the trio of Chris Forsyth, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Douglas McCombs, produces a boundary-less, rhythm-forward amalgam of art rock, trance jazz, collective improvisation, and humming electronics. They are joined by Ibises, a unique example of the liminal crosstalk and channels of experimentation characterized by Chicago’s music community, and Luca Cimarusti, a Chicago-based musician whose solo percussion practice focuses on repetition, resonance, and decay.
