Alcest is a French post-black metal and blackgaze group, founded in 1999 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze by Neige. Forerunner of the genre, the project merges the ethereal textures of shoegaze and the intensity of post-rock, thus laying the foundations of blackgaze.
